What is a Cacao Ceremony?

A Cacao Ceremony is when you drink cacao slowly and intentionally—rather than rushing with a coffee or tea. It’s about taking time out for yourself, creating a quiet moment, and using cacao to help you relax, open your heart, and feel more connected.

People often combine cacao with self-care practices like journaling, yoga, meditation, or just sitting quietly and reflecting. The cacao itself contains natural compounds (like magnesium, theobromine, and serotonin precursors) that support the body, calm the nervous system, and gently lift your mood.

In short: a Cacao Ceremony is simply making a moment sacred—a practice of slowing down, sipping with intention, and giving yourself space to connect inwardly which benefits our lives tremendously.

We now have our A Beginner Guide to Cacao Ceremony At Home EBook available on Amazon for Kindle or in store via epub.

WHY DO THIS?

Reconnect with yourself → step out of people-pleasing and into your authentic truth.

Emotional balance → validate your feelings, calm the mind, and soften anxiety.

Spiritual connection → open your heart, receive guidance, and feel supported by Cacao Spirit.

Mindfulness practice → create intentional space for presence, reflection, and clarity.

Nervous system support → cacao is rich in magnesium to relax the body and reduce stress.

Mood uplift → contains theobromine, serotonin precursors, and anandamide (“the bliss molecule”) to gently lift your energy and outlook.

Heart health & vitality → high in antioxidants and iron, supporting circulation and energy levels.

Creative flow → Ceremony opens mental clarity and inspiration for journaling, art, or problem-solving.

Daily self-care ritual → anchors you into rhythm, peace, and a sense of worthiness.

Community & connection → shared cacao circles deepen bonds and create safe, heart-led spaces.

A quick guide to your first Cacao Ceremony

1. Prepare Your Space – Choose a quiet, peaceful place. You can light a candle, play soft music, or use any props that help you feel centered and connected.
2. Brew Your Cacao – Prepare your cacao with love and start focusing your mind on your ceremony to come.
3. Set Your Intention – Take a moment to reflect on what you need. Are you seeking clarity, healing, or self-love? Setting an intention allows the cacao to support your inner journey.
4. Sip and Reflect – With each sip, allow your heart to open. Feel the warmth of the cacao and listen to your body and soul. Stay present, breathe deeply, and let the cacao guide you.
5. Tune into what you need today
You may want to consult some oracle cards, write in your journal, ask yourself questions, contemplate, stretch, do some movement or dancing, listen to your intuition as to what you need to do in your ritual today.
6. Closing the Ceremony – When you’re finished, take a few moments to express gratitude and reflect on any insights that arose during your ceremony.

As you continue to regularely sit in this space with Cacao Spirit, you will develop a relationship over time and may recieve messages with your senses more easily.

We have a free meditation called Happy Honey which is a lovely addition to your practice. Find it in our shop below.
